Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This session we covered perform squared tests and worked on related homework. Student had some trouble with calculator entry but got the hang of it after a few explanations. Grade from student's test coming next week but student had confidence that they did decently. No extra practice or concerns."
"The student and I covered the start of her class which included intro to applied statistics (normal distribution, standard deviations, and mean). I got a feel for her learning style and the type of student she possibly is. She learns by doing step by step problem solving, is more of a visual learner and benefits from further explanations. No concerns to note from this session and I feel that we are a good fit because she'll benefit from my patience and I can help her learn step by step."
"We spent today's session to continue to work on practice finals. The topics we reviewed today were mostly about hypothesis testing. It involves identifying type I and type II errors and the general procedure of conducting the test. We also talked about the student's exact test in particular. Aside from hypothesis testing, we spent a little bit of time working on sample sums and sample percentages. The rest of the session was used to do practice on sample finals."
"We went over missed questions from a recent test as well as how to do many problems in a Graphing calculator which the student found to be very useful. She had a low grade on her last test and needed to learn that material before the final exam this coming week. She was having trouble understanding the correct steps in using statistical formulas. I gave her a couple of extra similar problems to try on her own."
"Used session to help the student prepare for his final test in his Business Statistics course. Worked on Interval Estimation and Hypothesis testing, and helped him create a formulae reference sheet that his professor will allow him to use during the exam. By the end he seemed more comfortable with it and was able to set up and execute the problems."
"We worked on the basics of confidence intervals and hypothesis testing. This involved reviewing the conceptual basis of sample distributions. We worked through some of a problem set the student had for homework to practice."
"The student has her final exam in Statistics coming up next month. We spent some time today reviewing concepts that will be covered on her test. Specifically, we discussed the T and Z distributions, and hypothesis testing. We also started working through a set of practice exam problems. She is solid on much of the material, but would like some help with test taking strategies and recognizing multiple choice traps."
"Today we worked on conditional probability, exact probability, and finding probability using the normal distribution (z scores with standard deviation of 1 and mean of 0)."
"Worked on his week 4 materials. Qualitative vs. quantitative measurements and normal probability rules."
"We covered all topics that will be on the student's test on Tuesday. Topics included decision theory, chi-squared distribution, moving weighted averages, and indexes. Next session will be Monday."
"The student and I worked on her assignment for exponential smoothing. I showed her how to perform several tests in it and explained how to interpret the results."
"We prepared for the upcoming test and reviewed ANOVA details, especially how to think conceptually about problems and the differences between "between" and "within" variances."
