Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We spent all of our time on Thursday working on math. We focused on adding and subtracting fractions, both improper and mixed numbers. She is able to find the least common denominator, but had to be reminded that whatever she does to the denominator, she must do to the numerator in order to maintain equivalent fractions. On Friday, we continued to review 5th grade math concepts, such as rounding, dividing, and multiplying. We also worked on a reading comprehension activity using a simple poem. I had her read it one time aloud and then once to herself. We went through the poem line by line to determine its meaning, which seemed to help her."
"Today we did the rest of the regrouping practice that we did not finish last week. I did not help the student with it and she got the problems wrong, so I explained it how to do it, and then she was able to get the problems right again; we did more regrouping practice. We also read one of her chapter books, and I had her explain what was going on. She did well today."
"The student is to take a test this week. We started reviewing some of the subjects that are on it and will continue on Monday."
"The student and I worked on some algebra today, which he did a very good job with. His math skills have really improved as has his confidence in his own ability."
"We covered all the question topics on the student's latest review sheet. I copied the topics down and have written a practice test using these topics and will give it to the student on Wednesday to prepare him for Thursday's test. This was an extra tutoring session to better prepare the student for this test."
"We worked through several examples of proving 1-1 and onto along with applying those proofs to composite functions."
