Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We made flash cards for an upcoming science test and worked on math homework. He is currently studying multi-step equations and inequalities."
"In today's session, we reviewed equal fractions and single operations on algebraic equations. We also reviewed whole numbers, counting numbers, identity, and inverse. Finally, we reviewed decimals, and fractions (operations)."
"We did some review of binomial probability, continuous probability distribution use of Ti84 to obtain area/probability given z score, and z score given area/probability."
"Student 1 warmed up with filling in a 100s chart with the missing numbers. She then moved on to work on composing numbers in the hundreds by putting together 100s, 10s, and 1s. She also worked on decomposing numbers into 100s, 10s, and 1s. She did a very nice job with both. Student 2 worked on counting, solving word problems, and some subtraction work that he was interested in doing in his Star Wars book. He still needs support while doing word problems, so we will continue to do a couple during each session until he feels more comfortable solving them independently."
"The student and I worked on graphing points on a coordinate plane and discussing linear equations. He also learned how the midpoint formula could be used to find the midpoint of a line on a graph, and how to find the circumference of a circle. We also practiced identifying place value and discussed the relationship between numbers in adjacent places. We played some timed multiplication and division games. He did a great job and we decided that next time we would focus on fractions and percentages."
"Today was my last session with the student. We focused on summary and description writing based on her chapter book reading. We also did grammar and sentence correction homework. She has gotten much stronger in her writing skills, especially in regards to writing in complete sentences. We ended the session with a multiplication drill. She completed 100 multiplication problems with numbers 1-10 in 4 minutes! She has grown so much in her math facts, and I'm confident in her starting grade 4 on grade level."
