Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We did a almost complete review of every topic in the assessment test, including modern physics and particle physics. The majority of this material requires a good handle of the periodic table, and in particular, the energy level section and the standard model section."
"During this session, we began by playing games to practice concepts we covered earlier. We played a game to practice division with remainders, followed by a multiplication fluency game. Next, we completed a new lesson. In this lesson, I taught the student mental math strategies for computing multi-digit multiplication problems. We practiced breaking apart large numbers into their thousands, hundreds, tens, and ones then multiplying those parts and adding them together to find products."
"During this session we reviewed multiplying decimals. We also talked about place values and where to move the decimal point while multiplying decimals. We then talked about how to multiply decimals by factors of ten by moving the decimal point the correct number of place values. She was not familiar with this concept at all before we talked about it and she struggled with it at first, but by the end of the session she understood it and could answer questions correctly on her own."
"Today we worked on graphing trig functions. The student will be taking the test on Wednesday and did not feel comfortable with the 5 point technique. She felt much better about it after the session. We also did a review of her bio study guide for her test on Tuesday."
"The student got a 92% on her chapter test - law of sines, law of cosines. We reviewed the questions she missed to find the error. We then did practice problems for the current chapter- graphing modified trig functions, asin(bx-h)+k = y. We practiced identifying the period, amplitude, and translation for sin, cos, and tan functions. The student is beginning to feel comfortable, but needs some review."
"This week the student and I worked on her mathematics homework. It's her final round of math homework before summer vacation! She's been so successful this year and I'm so proud to continue tutoring her."
