Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered mostly trigonometric identities such as half and double angle formulas. We also went over how to translate sin, cos, and tan into a triangle. The student was a capable learner. I went over how I like to learn and that it's important to move slowly."
"We covered how to use reference angles and (rcos(a),rsin(a)) to find coordinates on a unit circle. We also went over the value of the some important reference angles for sine and cosine functions. Nailing down what each of the reference angle values were seemed to be what the student struggled with the most, but by the end of the session she seemed to understand it a lot more. The biggest recommendation I have for her is to keep trying to memorize those reference angles. We also hit on phase shifts a little bit and how that applies to graphs of the functions, and we covered what went wrong on a few problems from her most recent quiz. She picked up on the concepts pretty quickly once we were on the same page."
"The student and I covered sequences and the variety of types and how to find rules from a given pattern. She had a great attitude and catches on quickly."
"The student is continuing to learn about trig identities and how to simplify expressions and solve equations. As with our last session, I see her improving in her understanding of the trig functions and identities, but she still needed help with some basic algebra skills and especially working with fractions. She does seem like she's trying to learn. I told her to continue reviewing the trig identities and examples we went over tonight."
"The student was assigned homework for the evening on solving trigonometric equations. He seemed to have a good understanding of most of the problem-solving steps, but needed more practice. He completed the homework which consisted of approximately ten problems."
"In precalculus, I see that the student started a new unit that focused on systems of equations. So she worked on a homework assignment consisting of a quadratic system of equations and word problems utilizing system of equations. After she finished the homework, we looked into a bit of physics that involved colors of light. She needed help on some concepts of light such as what pigment/ paint absorbs what types of light so that you will see an object the way it is. We discussed it in depth, and we'll work on this more in our next session."
