Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed washers and disks for the student's test. He started grasping the concept a lot better. I left him with a study sheet that has information of when to use what formula."
"We did 24 8th grade math review questions. The student did an excellent job with order of operations and simple algebraic substitutions. We need to work on geometry and manipulation of linear equations."
"During this session we went over u substitution, integration by parts and integration by use of partial fractions. We went over various problems. Overall, this session went well."
"The student and I began exploring the 6th grade math concept: ratios. We built conceptual understanding by working with real world ratio scenarios and then we were able to apply our understandings while converting ratios to fractions, then simplifying. The student had no problems with the ratios, however at times he had difficulty simplifying. I helped him build the understanding of even numbers and the rule of divisibility. We will continue to work on ratios during our next session."
"Today, I started the session out by giving the student a review on adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing negative numbers. She seemed to remember this fairly well from class and she only struggled with division. Next we went over algebra expressions where x was either in a fraction or it needed to be multiplied (i.e. 3x/2+2=5 or 3(x+5)=20. Overall, she did really well. I was not expecting her to get as far as she did today because this material is past the pre-algebra level. I will give her more practice with these types of problems on Monday and move on to even harder calculations next week."
"Session Summary: The student and I covered various integration techniques and theorems. In particular, we covered the fundamental and mean value theorems."
