Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has 3 worksheets of math to finish. They were all on decimals. She seemed to understand. She needed some help. She read a few chapters in her book. She told me what she read. Her comprehension is good. We did speed flash cards. She improving."
"The student and I had a great session reviewing for his final exam. We reviewed sequences and began reviewing conic sections. He expressed confusion about sequences, so I gave a short lesson focusing on the notation of the formulas. He then successfully completed practice problems. Once practice was over, I held another short lesson on circles. We discussed the form of the equations and made connections between the equation of a circle and its graph. He demonstrated good understanding of the concepts. On Wednesday, we will review the rest of the conic sections. I left him with my notes and his sample problems."
"Today, the student worked on times tables to begin with, then we moved on to long division. This showed me her confidence and she definitely has improved! Next, I asked her to add fractions with like denominators to see if she understood mixed numbers. We had time to review some previous work she had done independently involving story problems. I left her some worksheets with review work and I know she will also work on her multiplication fluency."
"During this session, we went through the rest of the test preparation packet we had constructed last week. This material covered sequences and series, conic sections, inverse trig functions, and trig identities. We reviewed the material after he completed it. We discussed test preparation strategies he could use to finish preparation for his exams. We went through some of his remaining chemistry questions. He is planning to complete the rest of the practice exams his teacher released to the class in order to prepare. The student will do well once he is finished preparing!"
"We drilled trig functions and graphing transformations. The student is definitely understanding it more. Great work!"
"We reviewed for the student's upcoming final by doing problems from each problem section until the student felt comfortable doing them on his own. We are going to finish reviewing on Thursday, the night before his test."
