Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was our final tutoring session before the summer. We made more practice problems based on math problems that the student struggled on from a previous homework. I left all of the practice problems with her, and she will solve them as she studies for her last math test. She then worked on her most recent math homework, which was on direct variations. She had a great grasp on this concept, and we did not need to make any practice problems. Lastly, we used the workbook to practice answering questions quickly and accurately with a clock running (visibly). She says this helps her prepare for timed math tests. It was overall a great session and I have really enjoyed working with her and her family."
"The student worked on arithmetic and geometric sequences. She understands the equations, but if she isn't given the first term, it becomes a little bit more difficult. She should continue reviewing for her state assessment exam that's coming up in a few weeks."
"During this session, a variety of problems were covered because the student worked through a practice test. Most of the problems were a review and topics related to statistics, probability, and algebra were covered. She is doing better recognizing different types of problems, but needs to work on remembering different formulas to solve problems. She continued working towards completing her online algebra class."
"The student and I completed our review for the final. We first focused on rational expressions and how to do operations with them. I showed him the importance of factoring and how it plays in all operations. We went through a couple of practice problems before moving on to polynomials and solving for them. We made sure he had the right process for long and synthetic division. We practiced with a couple of textbook problems then spent the rest of the session practicing radical simplification."
"The student and I worked on properties of logarithms, completing the square, solving equations with exponents, and other similar topics in algebra II. We also covered a bit of chemistry general review at the end of this session. We had a very productive session."
"In this tutoring session, we focused on the product rule, the quotient rule, and the chain rule, which should account for 50% of the upcoming exam. We did two challenge problems from each section, while working through a process help to keep the usage of the rules clear. We also touched on several different smaller differentiation rules used."
