Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed long division briefly, then we talked about adding fractions and worked on some sample problems. We read out of her novel, focusing on making sense of metaphors."
"Covered some more concepts related to fractions, decimals, and percents, and went over worksheets on these concepts."
"Continuous Distribution, normal curve approximation to binomial distribution, z scores, use of Excel to generate areas to left/right of selected z score."
"We used uploads to view money and add different types of coins. Continue to practice counting by ones, fives, and tens. Count money using one type of coin only. Once that is mastered, use two types of coins and count them together. I look forward to working with you on measurement on Wednesday."
"Today we worked on a practice test booklet from the student's school. She did very well and was able to do almost all of the problems independently. She was still having trouble with the area of an l shaped figure. We tried to solve the problem in three different ways: breaking up the figure, taking the area of the whole piece minus the missing piece, and gridding. She should ask her teacher and work on these problems. She knows how to determine area."
"I checked the student's homework (he did a good job). After this, I had him do a worksheet that consisted of arithmetic, including fractions, borrowing, etc. He did a good job. Toward the end of the session we played a short game of chess."
