Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we went over the introductory concepts of binary and hexadecimal numbers. The student is still making sense out of the new material, of course, but he seems to understand the fundamentals clearly."
"The student added a marching enemy to his game that obeys the laws of gravity. He ran into an issue when implementing the new enemy into a level. He took the time to draw out what was happening and fixed the problem. He also expressed an interest in animating the player and enemies so that they have movement when on the screen. We will work on fixing a glitch on Sunday."
"The student had lost track of a course she had taken in the past. She only had to complete a final project, but had forgotten about the member functions and class hierarchy involved. After dissecting the hierarchy, I was able to explain all of the relevant functions she would need to use and provide a comment skeleton of each feature of the function she would need to implement."
"The student and I went over a worksheet she was working on that is due tomorrow. We reviewed the "For Loop" concepts in depth, and this filled up the entire session. We compiled and tested the code that she was writing on my machine, and I sent her the java class file as we wrapped up our session. She considered the session to be a success."
"We covered XML, XSD, and XSLT transformations. The student is taking an online course and a lot of things were not explained for XSLT transformations. We went over the if statement, for-each loops, and HTML table tags. He was able to get through half of the assignment and feels confident that he can finish the rest on his own. I sent him some online resources to look at in case he runs into any problems."
"The student and I reviewed for his upcoming test. He is in very good shape overall, and I expect he will do well. We covered topics such as strings, Booleans, debugging, class inheritance and interfaces, recursion, and more."
