"The student was working on problems with rotational motion and rolling without slipping. Some of the problems were very involved and stepped across multiple topics, but she seemed to be picking up the major points pretty well. She showed me a problem she was doing on her own at the end, and it incorporated some of the aspects we had been talking about, so I think she is in pretty good shape."
"We covered a frame and truss problem and how to initially approach it. We discussed how to look for moments to solve for exterior reaction forces and then working inwards to solve the other forces. I then gave suggestions of how to solve the student's hydrostatic pressure problems."
"The student and I worked on the nervous system today. We mainly used the class notes since she has an exam on it this Thursday. The notes were mainly in text so it required me to explain difficult concepts such as impulse propagation, action potentials, and reflex arcs by drawing detailed diagrams. She voiced she found this method extremely helpful to her understanding."
"The topics that were addressed included: molecular theory, periodic trends, intermolecular interactions and their effects on macroscopic properties, and acid base chemistry specifically in regards to titrations, buffers, and polyprotic acids. The most questions arose during the acid base section concerning strong acid buffers, the common ion effect, and polyprotic acid curves. We focused on the ICE method for calculating pH and maintaining a big picture view of the reactions occurring. I emailed a study guide I had prepared at the end of the session."
"We went into greater detail with transcription and translation. There weren't any large problems that arose or any great struggles. The student had a good attitude. I left him with some more of my old notes. I saw that he got an 80% and a 100% on his last two quizzes which was nice because both of those were above the class average."
"The student and I covered the concepts of kinetics, reaction rate, effects of rate on reaction time and concentration relationships of reactants to products depending on many factors. These concepts were related to his lab report which he completed. The student had a good grasp of concepts."
