Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We began by covering the basics of exponents, fractional exponents, square roots, associative and transitive properties of basic mathematical functions, and began reviewing the student's homework for the day."
"Reviewed two digit multiplication. Started teaching place value and long division. Also completed some reading comprehension/vocabulary exercises."
"Worked on fractions focusing on greatest common factor to reduce fractions and least common multiple to work with multiple fractions of different denominator."
"Continued working through the practice problems in preparation for the test. Focused on graphing problems, linearization, the chain rule, the product rule, the quotient rule, finding tangent lines, and using the definition of the derivative to evaluate limits."
"The student and I went over the section 5.4 review sheet given by his teacher, which was comprised mostly of exponent work. Once finished, I created some practice problems to make him even more comfortable with exponents, which he seems to be now. We also got started briefly on the next section in the unit."
"We went over the order of operations, exponents, and prime factorization. The student struggled with the order of operations and exponents. She felt more comfortable and confident after the session was over. I reinforced her to write out PEMDAS every time we work on problems dealing with order of operation. I also showed her the hand trick for dealing with the multiple of 9. We reviewed in class work that she did already. I thought this session was successful. We had fun while we were learning. The student wanted to understand the concept of the problems. She told me she liked my way of solving the problems than her teacher. She is a quick learner and just needed some reinforcement."
