Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed in preparation for the upcoming midterm; going through all the different kinds of statistical tests and p values/statistical significance. We will continue running through the characteristics in the next session."
"Today we focused on the paragraph about poor quality meat. We discussed the definition of essential amino acids; amino acids which cannot be made by the body itself and must be supplied by the diet. We made a list of the 9 essential amino acids and then evaluated some nutritional information we found on a particular brand of chicken breast. Tomorrow, we will be discussing another paragraph of the paper."
"Next session we will work with the student's syllabus, worksheets, and general outline of notes to bring him up to speed for AP chem. We covered the beginning of thermodynamics this session. He has taken Honors chem, which does have some repetitions, but this extra practice will help prepare him."
"The student and I tackled more problems to prepare her for the AP test. Today we focused heavily on circular motion, friction and torque. We analyzed each problem and carefully explained the reasoning of why each step needs to be taken to arrive at the solution. The student is very happy with her progress so far and will continue studying until our last session before the exam next week."
"Today we worked on a review of thermochemistry and kinetics problems. The student had a very good grasp on the material and we worked through a few of the sticky points together. I feel very confident that she is putting in the effect and succeeding in the course. I look forward to working with her again."
"We covered the cellular respiration chapter of her review book together. We went through all of the concepts, including glycolysis, citric acid cycle, and oxidative phosphorylation. We did the problems at the end of the chapter, focusing on free response techniques. We started the photosynthesis chapter together as well. The student understood these two chapters very well and did well on the problems that we did together. I am going to try to reduce the student's stress by covering entire chapters together during sessions, so she has less to read on her own time."
