Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I studied for her test on Tuesday. We focused on atom size, ion size, ionization energy, and the transformation of ions into cations and anions. She was confused about several things in the beginning, but she seemed to understand the material by the end. We went over a couple of worksheets and she did a superb job on them. Well done!"
"Went over current lab write ups and made suggestions on how to improve them (mass vs area and absolute zero lab). Went through discussion questions on labs. We have an appointment on Oct 26th, 2pm."
"This session covered - Chemistry. Atom structure - protons, neutrons, electrons, atomic mass, atomic number, isotopes. Reading the periodic table."
"We reviewed for his exam later this week covering some of the material from our previous session on calculating pH and pOH from H3O and OH concentrations and vice versa. We then discussed the concept of strong acids and bases. Next, we covered naming of acids and bases. I showed him the rules of naming using polyatomic ions. I suggested studying these ions to ensure that he will succeed in this section. Lastly we began a discussion on weak acids which we will begin next time."
"Today we worked on reaction rates, rate constants, and activation energy. We spent a considerable amount of time working through the generalities of each topic. The student had a great handle on the material."
"Today we introduced the topic of acids and bases. We looked mostly and strong acids and bases as well as pH. We talked about the mathematical concepts and definitions related to ion concentration, and how these quantities affect the chemical properties of a solution."
