Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went through the student's new workbook to see which topics we already reviewed and which topics we still need to cover. We focused mainly on linear equations and how to plot them on a graph and how to find the slope and both intercepts of the line. We also talked about the slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines. Lastly, we talked a little of how calculus will relate to the graph of an equation. Before our next session, she is planning on reviewing the sections for the other forms of a linear equation and polynomials."
"We specifically covered Chapter 6 on the law of sines/cosines and the sections relating to vectors. We spent some time reading over the formulas carefully. I also showed him how to neatly represent his mathematical thoughts on paper. Overall, the session was excellent."
"I continued the study of parametric equations with the student. We explored the parametric equations of lines, quadratic functions and further circles. He is progressing and gaining more enthusiasm. I know that we are coming from far away however the mastery is on the way. I left him some problems to solve with a 100% achievement goal."
"We covered polar graphing and how to find intercepts of different graphs. The student was initially confused on how to transform the polar equation into rectangular form. However, after a try or two, she had it down. As for finding solutions for different equations, we used the graphing calculator and I also explained how to find the solutions algebraically. Overall, I would say the session went well."
"Today, we went over homework assignments focusing on solving equations algebraically and graphically, applications of quadratic equations, and modeling and proportional variation. Through constant guidance, the student attempted to strengthen her math logic and understanding."
"The student finished her math homework over logs, natural logs, and rules of logarithms. We reviewed a few acid-base problems from chemistry."
