Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I reviewed question words. We practiced how to talk about the weather and wrote down some sample sentences that will help him talk about his past in Germany, Japan, Australia and Italy. We practiced how to talk about favorites as well. He has to keep on practicing question words and verb conjugations."
"Today, we started the lesson by reviewing past tense and subordinating conjunctions again. The students showed significant improvement in identifying the grammar patterns in both cases, and only needed help remembering a couple of words. Later, we talked about the different modal auxiliaries and I had them use the verbs in sentences. At the end, we had a conversation in German, in which both were able to put their sentences together in good order, and had a good grasp on the context of what I was saying the whole time. They expressed a lot more confidence in their ability to understand and respond to German questions and comments."
"At our last session, the student and I worked on translating some sentences. I tried to keep the sentences stimulating and challenging enough to be thought-provoking. He seems to really like translating sentences, and I am happy about that. I will build on what we did this time in the coming lessons. Next lesson we will work a little bit more on some specific points of grammar as opposed to what we did tonight, which was basically all translations with explanation of the grammar as we went along."
