Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We continued to solve problems with complex inequalities. We addressed the same common themed issues and corrected them. We also reviewed for his quiz. He has an exam coming up next week that I will help him prepare for."
"We covered factoring and using the zero-product rule to help graph the quadratic. The student isn't struggling too much with any of it. She has a good attitude and works hard. I introduced her to a new strategy to help speed up difficult factoring problems. It's a streamlined version of guess and check that also keeps track of what you've tried, so you don't go around in circles. No concerns!"
"The student and I completed her assignments in preparation for her exam on Friday. The assignments covered solving linear systems of equations using substitution and elimination as well as graphing systems of inequalities. We also solved a few word problems involving systems of inequalities. She has a firm grasp on solving systems of equations and inequalities."
"The student and I covered functions. We went over domain, range, graphing, and writing equations of lines. The student struggled a bit with the algebraic concept, "whatever you do to one side, you do to the other." We did a lot of practice problems pertaining to this in order for him to understand the material. He seems to be making gains on understanding the material; I would like to see how he did on his last exam."
"We worked a lot on long division of polynomials today in preparation for the student's final exam. She understands the concepts but just needs to make sure she keeps track of her positive and negative numbers so she doesn't get mixed up. We also reviewed the rest of the materials covered on the final exam, and she seems ready for the test."
"We covered solving systems of equations and inequalities through elimination, substitution, and graphical methods. The student had a test study guide for the problems, and we solved all the problems together. He solved most of the questions correctly."
