Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed for the student's first exam next week. We covered material that will be seen on the test, including conjugating verbs, vocabulary, simple sentence structures, etc."
"During today's session, I gave her another brief oral quiz, which she performed well on. I also covered new material, including family members. I assigned her to provide a brief monologue at the beginning of next session, so she gains practice with oral production; the monologue will be a description of her family and their likes/dislikes/activities, etc. I will then continue to measure her oral comprehension skills by providing another oral quiz to her that includes material covered thus far, but with more emphasis on new material. She said the oral quizzes are really helping her, so we plan to do them for each of the remaining sessions. I will also introduce new material to her during the next session."
"The student and I met for the first time this week to work on French. We focused mainly on reviewing her homework for this weekend, which was to learn the French vocabulary for the family. We went through a worksheet where she had to translate certain family vocabulary into French. We paid particular attention to choosing the correct article for each word and the pronunciation for each word. The student learned that in many cases, a double "l" in French makes a "y" sound, such as in "fille" or famille." Finally, I quizzed the student on her vocabulary words."
