Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today I had the pleasure of working with the student. We did a general assessment of the concepts that he needed help with for his AP Chemistry course. We covered a couple of topics within thermodynamics. The student is able to make connections with the material quickly. I believe that if he can solidify his foundational knowledge and practice applying that knowledge, he will make great progress."
"At today's session, the student and I focused on states of matter, boiling point elevation, freezing point depression, Van Hoff factors, and acid/base chemistry. We discussed the concepts of boiling point elevation, freezing point depression, and the application of these to Henry's Law. I then gave her some practice problems on calculating Van Hoff factors for strong and weak acids and bases. I then had her solve one of those problems on her own. She indicated that this helped clarify some steps in the process for her, and that she was no longer confused about solving acid/base problems. I recommended that she review from an AP review book when studying for her AP Chemistry class."
"Today we went over glacier types, sediment left from glaciers, how glaciers effect landscapes, the atmospheric levels, temperatures, and common occurrences at each level. We also briefly discussed global warming and how the atmosphere and glaciers are related. We did notes together on glaciers and the atmosphere so she would have an organized section on the 2 topics. She will let me know what the grade on her most recent test is when she receives it."
