Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed parametric and polar coordinate systems. The student had a good attitude, as always, and asked lots of questions. No new strategies, just encouraging her to draw pictures to help solve problems."
"The student and I worked on two sections dealing logarithmic and exponential functions. I will provide additional practice problems for her via email, solutions to four problems, and review her two past test."
"Went over properties of basic functions. We went over how to identify the two functions both visually and algebraically. We performed a couple of examples together and then I had her do the problem set assigned to her (she had no problems successfully answering them). We then reviewed the twelve basic functions and how each of them behave. We also quickly re-visited how to calculate asymptotes, domain, range, and limits. I then had her finish the rest of her homework assignment (again, little to no issues) and discussed her current standing in the class, as her grade has improved by 6 points!"
"The student has an upcoming math test and wanted to work on exponents for the session. We had to cover functions including exponents with sets of simultaneous equations. Only a few weeks back, we were learning how to solve sets of linear simultaneous equations, so this proved to be a learning curve for him. However, given that he is motivated to do well, he was able to catch on to the problems involving exponents, which can be quite challenging, as they include fractions and well as division of equations. We did several examples and created a procedure template that would help him solve further problems. Math is also about practice, so we made sure that he was able to pilot himself through the problems with minimal guidance by the end of the session."
"We reviewed the student's homework on graphing multiple equations. She also solved some trig functions. In the upcoming sessions we will continue to work on math. She also mentioned doing some chemistry work."
"We were able to review topics that were missed on the last quiz. The student seemed to understand after seeing the problems worked out. We also did review problems that were assigned by the teacher. I feel confident that she will do well in the future."
