Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We first did reviewing, I realized we had actually covered a lot of material so far, so instead of giving too much new, we focused on how to utilize the old and make it useful, therefore today I showed her a short classic Chinese cartoon, and after the film, I asked her to re-tell the story back to me in Chinese, as simple as she can, use what she had already learned, and to only use my help when it's needed...in the beginning, she struggled, but quickly, she learned how to use her own way to correctly express what she wants to say, and that's the key of learning and exercising a language. I also taught her how to write date (including year, month and day); I gave her a preview of the next story we'll learn: The Snowman (she learned how to say and write snowman). The homework is to review all the vocab we covered in the past, especially those ones she missed and uncertain with."
"Today, I spent more time on reviewing what we have learned before. We reviewed different kinds of food and family members. Also, we went over the sentence structures. We learned three new sentences. I also taught them two holiday names: Halloween and Christmas. They did a great job."
"We continued from the previous session. We keep repeating the same words, numbers 1-6, all colors, basic greetings (hello, how are you, good bye, thank you, you are welcome), animals (panda, tiger, dinosaur, dog, cat etc.), objects (ball, car, etc.), body parts (hand, head)."
