Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Since the student had a high enough grade to be exempt from her chemistry final, we actually met today to work on Spanish. We talked about direct and indirect pronouns, reflexive verbs, definite and indefinite articles, adverbs, and phrases for asking particular questions. Overall, I think she's doing well."
"This was my last session with the student. She had completed all of her study guides and most of her note cards for her vocabulary. She still had some of the verb charts and vocabulary worksheets to fill in. We first began by drilling all of the note cards she had made. She knew most of her words. Then, we went over the answers to her study guides together. I also took intermittent moments to drill her on the accent mark rules. Then, we turned our attention to Spanish where she completed some of the verb drills. After which, I made her a list of all of the drills that she needed to go over independently before her test. She was a pleasure to work with and I told her that her Spanish final will go great!"
"The student and I studied for her upcoming semester test. We worked mostly on grammar since she has her vocab down pretty well. Our main focus was getting her to recognize the different conjugation endings in order to figure out what tense a sentence is in. We worked on the differences between present, preterite, and imperfect tenses."
"We went over the study guide I gave the student last session and the verb "hacer." Next time, we will discuss a couple of informal expressions and go back to paragraph translation. Next session's paragraph will deal with irregular verbs."
"We went over words the students wanted to learn, and five others they already knew. Then I read them a book in both Spanish and English. The first student began to read part of it in Spanish, and I asked the second student a question in Spanish that he was able to answer. Then we watched "villancicos" -- Spanish "Christmas carols.""
"The student is studying additional vocabulary for a new unit. He is using reflexive verbs and sports vocabulary, and vocabulary for daily tasks. Today we worked on an exercise incorporating putting daily tasks in chronological order."
