"Today, we also focused on conversational Chinese like the previous lesson. We used the book as the basis of the lesson. The student read and summarize the stories in English and Chinese. We added more vocabularies to the vocab sheet so that the student can have a reference vocab list. For the last portion of the lesson, we worked on the vocab words that the student had. When faced with words that the student does not quite understand, I tried using the words in Chinese so that it helps student to pick up Chinese and able to use context clue."
"Today was my first session with the student and I couldn't be happier with his attitude! He's extremely interested in learning and improving his placement test score, with the ultimate goal of getting into a great university. We worked mainly on math and science today, reviewing general test-taking strategies, pattern recognition, and specific time strategies to help improve his overall score. We also discussed where he feels he needs the most work and started to address those areas (particularly science and trigonometry). I'm confident he'll be prepared for the test by the end of our sessions!"
"Today was a rather comprehensive session. The student was willing to tackle multiple sections of the practice exam so we began with reviewing vocabulary and then continued on with new mathematical concepts, as well as strengthening known concepts. He was very eager to solve the problems on his own. He verbalized Reading Comprehension being his most difficult portion of testing so we went over two separate stories and I introduced some pointers to him. He seemed to do well on these two passages but we will continue to practice these in future sessions."
"We went over Chemistry and Calculus topics today. In Chemistry, we focused on the Ideal Gas Laws, Graham's Law of Effusion, Boyle's Law, manipulating thermochemical equations, and Calorimetry. In Calculus, we focused on antiderivatives and learned how to perform u-substitution for definite integrals."
"The student and I continued reviewing material for the Biology SAT. Since our last session, I obtained a review book for her to focus on the subjects most pertinent to the exam and to provide her with practice questions to test her knowledge. We spent the lesson reviewing the first chapter of the book, on basic biochemistry. She had forgotten most of the material she had learned in class, but was able to remember parts of what we covered as we went along and was quick to learn the rest. She is very focused and organized, so I think the book will be a good framework to work from moving forward."
"We talked about some of the commands that can be used to possibly help speed up functionality. I sent the student a list of common commands and asked that she review it and narrow down what she requires for the job."
