"Over the last two years I taught high school math and science in the Mississippi Delta. More specifically, I taught 12th grade Psychology/Sociology/English, 11th grade Chemistry, 9th grade Physical Science/Algebra 1, and AP Physics. Whether working with large groups or individuals, accelerated learners or students requiring extra support, being a part of the teaching and learning process is amazing! Outside of academics I really enjoy the wilderness, sports, and music. The Eastern Sierras are my favorite place to go camping, hiking, and fishing." ...

" I don't believe there is such a thing as a difficult subject, I just believe that each student has strengths and weaknesses, and that it is best to focus on the strengths and use them to overcome the weaknesses. For example, some students struggle with word problems in math, but they enjoy drawing pictures. I like to teach students how to draw pictures to solve word problems. If you start with what you are good at and slowly work toward those things that you are not so good at, there's no limit to what you can learn."

"As a graduate student, I have enjoyed being a teaching assistant and helping students learn to enjoy the college science classes that I enjoyed so much. My teaching philosophy focuses on the idea that different students learn different ways and as a TA or a tutor, I strive to express different ways of thinking about problems. The teacher presents information one way, and I'll express it two or three different ways until one sticks! I also think that college bound high school (or middle school) students can benefit greatly by learning what to expect in college. I actually didn't even like chemistry until I went to college! In college, some of ...
