Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed the problems he worked on partial fractions and continued with improper integrals. We finished integrals with limits at infinity and started integrals with infinite discontinuities. I assigned him problems to work before our next session."
"I first checked if the student had new assignments to finish. He had new reading assignment from English, which he finished at school. He then proceeded to finish his Algebra homework. The homework was a review of knowledge from last semester (on solving quadratic equations via different methods). He did well, but needed a reminder sometimes. He then moved on to his physics quest, due on this Friday."
"Student 1: We went through his homework for that evening covering radicals. He seemed very comfortable solving all problems.
Student 2: Worked on prime numbers and being able to determine a prime vs a composite number. I left her a few worksheets to continue practicing."

"The student and I worked on her Algebra homework, which was identifying roots of quadratics. She understood the basic concepts. We also worked on word problems. Once she set the problems up she was very good at solving them. She received an A on the radicals test she took before break which is fantastic news and shows her progress!"
"We continued reviewing related rates today. The student's skill in drawing diagrams has improved as she has become more acquainted with the major types of problems in this category. She was able to complete almost all of the problems we approached with no help. Next week we will begin talking about antiderivatives and definite integrals."
"We covered fractional and negative exponents. We discussed the rules of exponents and multiplying and dividing polynomials with them. She had more practice problems from school to do for our next session."
"First, the student did his homework about translating algebraic expressions. He did well on most of the questions. Then, we reviewed the operations with fractions and operations with negative and positive numbers. We also went through the problems about factoring and expanding the algebraic expressions. I found it was helpful to review every topic that he had questions about while we went through the homework. At the end, I left some homework for him this week."
"We met for our first session of Algebra 2 tutoring. In this session we went over a review packet for an upcoming test. We spent much of the time focusing on logarithms and linear functions. I left him with more practice problems for him to work on before our next session."
"We worked on long division and synthetic division. She had actually never learned long division in elementary school, so I showed her how to handle division with numbers as well as division with polynomials. She strongly preferred synthetic division and excelled in the computational process. We did several examples of each and I'm convinced that she's mastered both processes. I also reviewed factoring with her, including like terms, differences of squares, and especially sums/differences of cubes. Her mental math and facility with imaginary numbers is especially noteworthy. Her test isn't until Monday, so I asked her to review her notes and do a few more practice problems on the weekend, but I believe she's essentially ready."
"For our first session, all we did was cover basic exponent problems. We will have a review session on exponents next session in order to prepare for a test also next week. Finally, I noticed that we need to work on his basic arithmetic, in particular knowing his multiplication table and decimal multiplication."
"Today, we covered the remaining topics that will be on the student's final. They included prime factorization, GCF, LCM, equivalent fractions, rules of exponents, zero and negative exponents, and simplifying exponential terms. The teacher gave the student a practice worksheet with problems that will look like the final, so we did many examples from each session and the student will finish the remaining problems on his own."
"She got the score for her last test, which was a significant improvement. We reviewed her homework on functions and completing the square, then we did more completing the square problems, and applied completing the square knowledge to translation questions and word problems."
