Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We discussed the student's performance on her test and she had done better than she felt. We are hoping that she will do even better on the next one because she feels more confident with the material. We covered 3.5 and she got acquainted with the theorems quite fast and feels comfortable with the material learned. I asked her to complete the section review and the mid-chapter quiz prior to our next session. She also requested for biology tutoring and so from next Tuesday on we will be dedicating the first hour to geometry and the last half hour to biology."
"We covered the student's test review thoroughly as well as her homework that is due tomorrow. The student has a chance to retake test 1 and got a better grade. I did not give extra practice today because of her test tomorrow. There are no concerns for this session. Everything went great."
"The student and I met and worked on the last part of chapter 3 because he has a test this Wednesday. We were able to finish the chapter and work on homework questions he has. The errors he makes are on misreading or simple switching of coordinates. We discussed going through and checking his math on the problems at the end."
"We reviewed for the student's test which covered construction of lines, triangles and circles using a compass. We spent time discussing the process of composing Concurrence: Centroid, Orthocenter, Incenter and Circumcenter."
"The student has an upcoming test on Chapter 11 topics including interior and exterior sums of angles in polygons, areas of regular polygons, arc length and circumference, and finding the area of triangle sectors. She did very well with this content. The mistakes she was making were calculation errors, so as long as she takes her time, pays attention to what she's looking for, and checks her answers, she should do very well on this upcoming test. I provided some extra practice worksheets for her to work on in the next few days."
"We went over the concepts from the beginning of chapter 4, by choosing and doing various proofs using equilateral triangles, isosceles triangles, and the various theorems that related to equidistant points. The student did very well, really only needing occasional pointers and tips from me."
"Reviewed definitions of angles created by transversal intersecting 2 lines. Did example problems involving vectors. Finally, did some geometric proofs. Student seemed to be more comfortable with vectors compared to last time."
"We worked on geometry homework and planning a research paper for global history over the Industrial Revolution. The student has been understanding the material but moving it from thought to paper in geometry class is still an issue. Exams are the following week and we will be working really hard on getting him ready for his geometry and global history exams."
"The student is having a quiz on Wednesday with questions covering parallel lines and transversals and the angles and relationships formed when a line crosses two or more parallel lines. We went over some study guides that his teacher gave him."
"Today's session with the student went really well. We focused on his review for his exam and talked more about his other classes. Our goal is to prevent him from falling behind in his classes."
"I worked with her on a packet that she has for her class, covering about 4 different sections of the current chapter. Right now she is going over types of angles, congruency, parallel and perpendicular lines, skewness, inverse statements and logic as well as triangle angles and polygons. She needed some definitions of terms, which then helped her understanding. I helped her re-learn some of the material so that she knows it for the next quiz."
"We went over questions he had missed on previous exams and quizzes. Spent most of the time walking through proofs and the best way to approach them. The student was able to do the problems once he knew which direction to go. Next week he is going to upload/email the problems he has been struggling with before the session starts. This week I gave him a link to the different theorems that would be helpful to learn. Next week I will have a list of samples of some of the main theorems and postulates that he can use for examples."
