Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, the student wrote another letter to his teacher about a current book he is reading. He also shared with me that he earned a 100% on his first letter to his teacher and that his Dust Bowl paper was the best in his class. I congratulated him on his successes, and then we got to work. He decided to write about a book he is reading called Atlantis. The prompt he chose asked him why he selected this book. He was very creative during the brainstorming session and took the reigns in organizing his letter during the outlining process. He wrote that he chose the book because he has always been fascinated by Atlantis because of the mystery that surrounds the underwater city and whether or not it actually existed, he had already watched a lot of documentaries and read other books about Atlantis and wanted to learn more, and he thought the writing in the book was funny. Again, he supported all of his topic sentences with examples from the text along with his own experiences and infused his writing with his charming sense of humor. He is really getting a knack for writing these letters!"
"The student and I spent time looking at his "movie" online and while he did have quite a few images uploaded, the video was not a coherent movie. So we selected a few images related to before his house burned and then started a writing project. We will continue next week, but he wrote out some things about his house that were the same now and also some that were different."
"We completed the winter break packet and wrote summaries on what the student read. She then wrote a short paragraph on her hopes for the next year."
