"The student continues to work on all aspects of quadratic equations. He has done several sheets of factoring, solving for zeroes, and using the quadratic equation. Also, he is working on completing the square and using -b/2a=Vx to find the vertex of the quadratic equations."
"More work with the student on preparing for his History and English finals. He seems like he's in good shape, knows a lot of the information he needs to, but still wants to work with me tomorrow. It's nice to have students where I know all the material and can easily work."
"I met with the client at a coffee shop and we went over some of the topics in her course, including matrix multiplication, Gaussian Elimination, and solving systems of equations using the echelon method. We did a bit of linear programming, but she felt like she knew what was going on there. We planned to meet again on Monday."
"The student and I reviewed all the materials from the last chapter of his fifth grade grammar book. This chapter seemed to be the easiest for him this far. After reviewing and practicing capitalization, synonyms, antonyms, homophones, etc. we read through a section of his prep book working with irregular analogies and did practice problems."
"We reviewed the problem of the week for his Math class and while I did provide some guidance for the problem, the student was able to figure a lot of it out on his own. Once we finished that problem, we transitioned into Spanish and focused a lot on sentence structure. He had an assignment in which he had to write various questions and answers to them and we worked on correcting some of the issues he was having."
"Today we reviewed several sections and chapters for the student's test tomorrow. We discussed functions, power functions, roots, sine, cosine, tangents and triangles. We are going to continue reviewing these concepts tomorrow to prepare him for his test."
"Tonight we examined the slides the student's professor compiled for the exam review. We also reviewed the last two assigned chapters. We also began reviewing the key terms and concepts from each lecture."
"Began session by getting to know the client. Helped client with history homework for most of the session. Worked on Quing Dynasty homework, figuring out the social, political, cultural, and economic parts of that dynasty. The last part of the session, I went over part of an essay that the student wrote for English, proofreading and correcting grammar and sentence structure. "
"The student understood the computer adaptive nature of the test. She expressed greatest concern regarding the writing and verbal sections. Our discussions led us to an analysis of further steps that she should take to prepare for graduate school. We agreed that to continue with GRE prep would also help her to prepare for the writing. We discussed in detail the two types of essay assignments on the GRE and appropriate strategies for each. She will begin brainstorming both essay types before we meet again. She will also begin to review the question types and begin to rank them according to difficulty level so that we may design a thorough, targeted study regime."
"The student and I worked on more systems of equations and inequalities. We graphed systems of three inequalities and found the solution area. Most of our time was spent working on systems of equations with three variables and three equations. We used a few different methods, the most complex of which was to do elimination three times, then back-substitution twice."
"The student is doing great. She got the equivalent of a 680 on her math test she did for homework. She agreed that it was a good score but wants to do better. Today we covered geometry and statistics and worked on problems in the book through page 308. Next time we will continue, starting on page 309. She is driven and seems to be getting a lot out of these tutoring sessions. She knows all the material so there is nothing to worry about. Homework: Do all of practice test 2, using a timer and replicating the testing environment as much as possible."
"We did the writing section of another assessment test today and the student has made some marked improvement. She scored a 560 which is a huge increase over the 430 she scored to start. What is making the most difference is a better understanding of grammar and how most of the questions deal with agreement and antecedent issue."
