Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went through the second half of sample paper 1 at the standard level. We covered note-taking strategies and reviewed both singular/plural and personal/impersonal pronouns. She did quite well on the practice exam. Before our next session, she may complete the final 5 questions of the practice exam."
"When I met with the student, we discussed learning social phrases first as part of her learning process. She has purchased a Spanish dictionary, as well as two Spanish workbooks. She will do the first chapter of the grammar workbook for homework. It reviews terms we have discussed in the sessions, with some review as well. The first chapter covers feminine and masculine nouns, endings, numbers, days, months and seasons. The homework should be good practice for her. We discussed what each exercise is about so she will be more prepared when she does the work herself. I also brought in some song lyrics from a song by an Argentinean band. I thought it was perfect because it reviews family vocabulary. For the last ten minutes we discussed the song and listened to it. If she has time, she can identify the words in the song from the family words she already knows. I will bring a copy of the song for next time we meet, which will be Monday. She is very motivated, and she is getting to the practice stage, building on the basics before we move into grammar."
"Practice conversation, working on learning vocabulary and using the correct article - el, la, los, las. Practiced reading by choosing news article about city planning."
