Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed for upcoming test. Focused on finding components of vectors and vector arithmetic. Also reviewed parametric equations, removing the parameter, and shifting the curve. Finished with review of De Moivre's Theorem and finding powers of complex numbers."
"During this session we reviewed our work with polynomial functions and rational functions in preparation for a test. We worked with the rational root theorem, Descartes' theorem, finding asymptotes, maximums and minimums, and intercepts."
"The student started a new unit - conics. He brought his homework to our session. It covered vertex, focus, directrix, axis, and the standard form of an equation. Overall, he did well. He has a sound understanding of this material."
"The student and I began an in depth review of the course in order to prepare for her upcoming final. We started working on the practice final. She was wary at first, but was quickly able to recall knowledge and processes necessary to solve equations. She said she felt more comfortable with every problem she completed."
"Student A and I discussed extraneous solutions for algebraic equations, fractional equations, least common multiple (LCM), polynomial factoring and simplification, and addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of polynomials. Student B and I discussed matrix solving with 3x3 matrices (3 variable and 3 equations), echelon matrix, and techniques used to get to the identity matrix."
"The student went over an entire homework packet that he had two weeks to finish. The packet is due Friday. It wasn't finished, but I gave him the concepts of all problems in the packet to finish on his own. The packet covered the following: polynomial division and synthetic, characteristics of a polynomial graph (vertex, end behavior, AOS, local max, local min, etc.), factoring, and complex numbers. He gets the material. I suggest he takes his time, and checks over his work."
