Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student and I covered conversion of different units of measure. He had a great attitude and was prepared to learn. He attempted and completed all problems with his own efforts. I think that he has just about mastered these conversions and is ready to move on to advanced problems. I told him to always write down what you are given, and then determine what you wish to solve for. Be sure that all information is being compared using the same unit of measure before proceeding. I will look up additional information regarding BSA (Body Surface Area) and provide that for him soon."
"Today, we reviewed the topics covered on the student's last math test. We covered problems on combining like terms, distributive property, and order of operations (PEMDAS). We also did some problems on whole numbers as part of his online math work. Finally, we spent some time doing some readings for his language arts class."
"We covered some algebra techniques including getting the equations of graphs and completing the square. She will inform me beforehand of the material we will cover and I will bring practice problems to solve. We will also continue to work on word problems every session."
"We focused on exponent rules, specifically how to apply negative and fractional exponents. By the end of the session, the student was doing well with these concepts."
"We reviewed the worksheets on measurement and time in preparation for returning from spring break. She worked on drawing the hands on a clock given the time, and understood the basics."
"Student #1 and student #2 are learning percentages and proportions, and I gave them each practice problems. Student #2 did very well on the practice problems and student #1 needed a little more review. They have not taken a quiz or test yet on what they have learned previously (converting percents into decimals and fractions). They both had good attitudes toward the material being reviewed."
