Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session, we worked on angles that were inside of a circle and outside of a circle. The student is doing really well with this concept and is able to complete the problems very quickly. The only issue she seems to be having is determining the difference between what to do based on whether the angle is on the inside of the circle or the outside of the circle. Once she figures this out, she does very well on the concepts."
"Today, we continued his geometry review that we started last week. We studied triangle problems where he had to calculate the centroid, circumcenter, and orthocenter. After he was shown how to calculate these, he did okay. We are going to review these more tomorrow, since they are very similar in nature."
"The student seems to have done well on her test. Today, we went over the new section covered in class, dealing with angles of elevation and depression. She is definitely getting used to working with trig functions and is learning quickly."
"The student worked through her homework and finished all but one problem. She can follow up with me through email on the problem we didn't finish. She doesn't have much difficulty working through the problems; she just has difficulty starting the more difficult problems and remembering to use all of the theorems, conjectures, etc. that she has learned throughout the year."
"The student and I conducted a review for a test on quadrilaterals. I provided her with a review sheet that outlines all properties of the quadrilateral family to include parallelograms, rhombi, squares, rectangles, trapezoids and kites. We also began a review for a final exam set for the week of January 18. We covered various topics to include deductive and inductive reasoning, laws of detachment / syllogism, conditional and biconditional statements. She did very well at recalling these topics and seemed prepared for the final exam."
"We covered sections 6.1 through 6.4 to prepare the student for her quiz on Tuesday. I assigned her some additional practice problems from section 6.2 (since that was the toughest), but made sure they had worked out solutions in the back just in case she had any trouble with them. She's currently working on transformations and similar polygons/ triangles, which can be one of the trickier parts of geometry. We worked through many examples and I think going over the material in more detail helped her feel more confident towards the end. I think she'll do great!"
