Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student and I worked on algebraic expressions, factoring, and problem sets. She did well with exponents and negative numbers. She was receptive and eager to learn the material."
"The concepts we covered were adding, subtracting, and multiplying polynomials. The student needed help with subtracting polynomials, specifically performing subtraction when a negative number was involved. However, after completing several of his problems, he quickly got the hang of it. His attitude towards the material reviewed was very positive, which was great!"
"Today we worked on the review problems for the student's test. We worked on different methods to solve systems of equations. We first practiced checking solutions, then worked on findings solutions using a graphing approach, followed by substitution, and finally elimination. We also worked on word problems, which entail setting up the systems of equations in order to solve them. Word problems tend to be the hardest, so he might want to review some of them before his test. Good luck!"
"The student's really comfortable with the manipulation of percents into fractions and decimals. She still has a few concentration glitches and will need me to point out some errors, but once she sees where the problems lie she can quickly self-correct. The session started out with some basic addition and subtraction of fractions review and it was a boost to her confidence, and later she continued the positive attitude into the percents."
"We covered how to graph quadratic equations, and also how to complete the square and find the vertex of each quadratic equation. The student needed help with completing the square. We went over it in detail, and she understood it clearly. She had minor issues in solving for values when building a t-chart of coordinate pairs, but we worked this out also."
"The student had to study for a physics test and an algebra test. He needed help with understanding the differences between current, resistance, voltage, and power, but seemed to reach a new level of understanding toward the end of our time together. He did all of the optional practice problems for his math review and did some additional work with me; he really seems to understand polynomials!"
