Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Our lesson covered finding the area of a triangle. Her problematic areas were focused on multiplying fractions. There were some conceptual problems she needed to cover. Overall she definitely understands how to multiply fractions. We used some rhyming methods in order to correctly divide fractions."
"Covered Second Fundamental Theorem of Calculus and Points of Inflection for natural logs and exponentials. We also reviewed problems from the homework involving integrals. Student is very positive and always wiling to learn. He is very bright. I broke down the theorem and reviewed the strategy for it. Then he completed practice problems."
"The student and I worked on her math test study guide - focused on quadratic formula, graphing quadratics, imaginary numbers, etc. She did really well working on the study guide with little direction from me. We also worked a bit on her English homework - notecards for a movie review of the film, "Titanic." She needed some assistance reading through the sources she had found and selecting subtopics and quotes to focus on."
"We continued preparing the student for his Algebra test. He does well on practice problems, but occasionally makes minor mistakes, basically lapses in focus. He has the material in hand, though, so if he takes his time & checks his work, the exam shouldn't be a problem."
"We discussed integration by parts, chain rule for derivatives, area between 2 curves, and integration of trig functions. Using the chain rule properly means the student can now use integration by parts properly. We also discussed good strategies for identifying which types of integrals use what rules and theorems to solve. I highly recommended making flashcards for all the different trig integrations and substitution formulas. She worked really hard for the full time and has great algebra skills. Her only homework is to continue studying for the exam and do some problems out of the book."
"Tomorrow is a quiz on compound inequalities and absolute value. We worked through the examples I wrote to practice the types that are in this unit."
