Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We started working on the summer review packet. We spent extra time on fractions, focusing on creating common denominators to assist with adding fractions."
"The student took the practice test and only missed four questions. She seems to have improved on regrouping, decimal place value, and finding a reasonable estimate."
"We covered material related to binomial probability distributions. The student displayed a good conceptual understanding of everything covered in the session."
"In geometry, we worked on slope-intercept form and using coordinates to write equations and plot corresponding lines. The student had a pretty good grasp of the techniques used for these sorts of problems; she was a little bit confused about x and y intercepts so we reviewed that. In chemistry, we looked at what she would be learning next week (naming ionic and molecular compounds)."
"The student and I worked through some questions he had on directions of vectors, specifically involving the cross and dot product."
"The student and I covered addition, subtraction, and multiplication of integers. She also had homework to make up, and we worked on that. She seemed to understand generally how negative numbers worked; she just needs to remember to check her work. I was happy to see that she hadn't lost any of the progress she made with fractions earlier this year. She also completed 13 multiplication problems in one minute this session, which is 3 more than last session and 5 more than when we first began our multiplication competition a month ago, so I was pleased with that. Next week, I'd like to review negative numbers with her again."
