Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student learned about how to solve systems of equations by graphing. He learned to shade areas of the graph for functions that are inequalities and then determine the answer by shading overlapping areas. He also learned to solve systems of inequalities by substitution and elimination."
"Student and I went over his math homework and then had a geometry lesson. Always a pleasure with this kid!"
"Today, we worked through a packet of math problems. We used this to both practice problems as well as identify areas of weakness."
"I continued to assess her reading comprehension, specifically focusing on reading silently. She refused to do so and needed probing for the longer passage. She was fine with the short reading questions, and only missed those that had words she didn't know. We worked a little on context clues, but will need more work. We also worked on spelling words. We started working on her math assessment."
"The student started working on vectors, so we went through her homework on that. She gets the concepts pretty well. We focused mostly today on studying for her lab practical covering fetal pigs. I went through all the different mammalian systems with her and reviewed their parts and functions. We also found diagrams and pictures of fetal pigs to practice identifying structures."
"We reviewed some more Common Core word problems, adding and subtracting fraction word problems, and decimal calculations. If she struggles within a word problem, it seems to be more in terms of figuring out what step to do first - which goes along with translating the words into a math equation. Again, this is a very algebraic way of thinking. We will work on it more. Overall, she is doing well. It continues to be a joy to work with her."
