Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed rational expressions and graphs of a wide range of elementary functions that will aid the student in developing her intuition about the validity of any answers she arrives at, especially since her class is coming to rely more on graphing answers and functions electronically."
"I helped the student with his math homework which is currently fractions. We talked through the problems he wanted to cover. Then he worked on his vocabulary homework."
"The student and I worked on adding fractions, as well as reviewed how to get the least common denominator. He had a very clear understanding of how to approach these problems. I showed him some extra problems so that he can continue his practice and asked his parents to assist in this. As always, this was a great session and I sincerely look forward to working with him again soon."
"We covered Substitution, Elimination, and graphing inequalities. The student is very eager to do well, and he is a VERY bright. There were some questions that I am confident he will be able to do on his own, so I asked him to do those before his test. He is very capable and intelligent. Slowing down while working things out will help him a lot. We scheduled another session for Thursday at 6:30pm."
"We continued to work on geometric proofs and geometric/algebraic sequences. This week we also reviewed her new work on statistics. She was very capable at her statistics work, and I am sure she will easily progress through that work. She did need a bit of review on sequences and was quickly able to pick up those techniques again. We will continue practicing the problems so that writing the different forms of the equations is second nature. As of now, she understands the technique but still occasionally has some difficulty executing it. She did an excellent job on proofs, and we will do some more practice just to make sure that, again, the solutions are second nature to her. Since she has conquered the topics we have worked on for the last few weeks with such ease, I would like to start working with her on more complex math or on SAT style questions since that is where she will see these types of questions in the future. We will begin doing this kind of work soon. She is an excellent student."
"In this session we went over the study guide the student's teacher gave her for her upcoming test. She knew most of what it was on and what she didn't know, we went over again to refresh her memory, after which she did very well. She has improved greatly in her calculations of percentages. The only thing she forgets occasionally is to turn the percent into a decimal before using it in an equation."
