"Getting to know student/ expectations of tutoring.
Student had no homework due to beginning of school year. Will need help in the future with working with negative integers. Is willing to use cooking for fraction work with prior notice."

"The student and I practiced difficult geometry concepts, including 3D geometry, special right triangles, coordinate plane geometry (including slope and the pointslope formula), geometry word problems, and geometry/algebra problems."
"The students remembered the previous lesson very well, and we learned the title of family members today. I would like them to memorize how to write mother, father, grandpa (dad side), and grandma (dad side) this time. Please note that the gender and age differences in these titles are extremely important."
"The student's algebra test was the next day (Tuesday), so we focused mainly on studying. I brought some practice problems with me on the topics that we covered last week, and he also had a practice test that his professor had drawn up. The practice test was multiple choice, and I think he will do quite well. "
"Reviewed things from lessons 14 and reexplained some things which the student was having trouble with. Talked about principle parts and the patterns between verbs in certain conjugations. Began translating sentences from English into Latin so that the knowledge of using the proper endings really sinks in. This should build confidence and the ability to write in Latin. Working towards making her able to compose Latin more naturally will in turn support her translation skills."
"The student and I reviewed a list of math skills targeted by the test, focusing on concepts that were unfamiliar or in need of review. We worked out multistep word problems, and practiced measurement conversions (i.e. feet to inches, ounces to pounds, etc.). We also reviewed geometry, specifically finding area and perimeter of triangles, quadrilaterals, and circles. He worked hard during this session and seems confident about taking the text next week."
"Covered Algebra with the student. Prepared her for her quiz. Went over the exercises on sections 2.4 and 2.5. She knew the basic steps on what/how to do the problems but she had some trouble with the smaller steps. Example she made frequent mistakes when squaring odd numbers. Near the end she felt comfortable with all that we went over."
"I graded the student's English section of the high school ACT prep book, and we went over that together. Awesome job there she only missed 15 problems, with an overall score of 29. We spent quite a bit of time on math concepts today. She has forgotten when to apply the area formula for a circle, and when to use circumference, and tends to confuse the two. I assigned the English and rest of the Science section of the book she's been working in for homework, as well as one hour of reading on her own. She is also to memorize the formulas for area and circumference of a circle, and area of a triangle for our Friday session."
"Reviewed for a test tomorrow working through a review packet together which included:
Reading comprehension/translation
Cardinal numbers
Months
Steps to conjugate the Formal Imperative Mood
Demonstrative adjectives
Superlative adjectives"

"The student and I covered her math homework for the day. Today was her first day back and they didn't learn anything new in class, but she had the homework on a new lesson. We first recapped the last lesson we did and then went over the notes on the section that the homework was on. The section consisted of finding the lateral area and surface area of different prisms and cylinders. I helped prove the cylinder formula to herself, since it is a little complicated. She was able to work through the assignment very well, and didn't need much assistance."
"The student and I reviewed for her upcoming final. We covered force, momentum, potential and kinetic energy, and the formulas for these topics in detail. We also discussed some basics of the scientific method and significant figures."
"Helped the student prepare for his Chapter 1 test. Covered asymptotes, even/odd functions, composite functions, translations, matching functions with graphs, inverses, increasing/decreasing intervals, and extrema. He felt much more confident after our lengthy review session."
