Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, we reviewed conic sections. In particular, we spent a good deal of time going over hyperbolas. We approached derivational problems from a variety of conceptual and algebraic perspectives. She was having trouble distinguishing between transverse and secondary axes. We reviewed these concepts and worked on deriving proper formulae from data given about the graph. She is doing well. Good job!"
"We went through the concept of parametric equations. Student quickly understood the rectangular<->parametric conversion, but had a little trouble with the vector parametrization. I recommended that she look at the example in the book as well as to do additional problems to reinforce her understanding. She had a good handle on the projectile motion problems and the related graphing; as she practices these throughout her class homework assignments, she should have a strong enough grasp to do well on the test after spring break."
"The student and I covered projection and physics projection problems. The student has a great understanding of the theoretical concept for projections, and he did well with the physics problems after only a bit of explanation."
"We solved the set of problems about the parametric equations and its applications. Particularly, we were writing parametric equations as regular equations in terms of y and x variables. Additionally, we graphed two parametric equations and determined domain from the drawn graph. Moreover, we solved several applications problems that described a ball thrown into the air, where you have to write two parametric equations in terms of trigonometric functions and answer on real-life questions."
"Today we reviewed topics in trigonometry and graphing functions. The student seems comfortable with the material."
"This lesson's topic was exponential functions and their graphs. The student understands the properties of exponential graphs very well and also worked on 10 exercises that demonstrated her solid understanding of this topic. In addition, the student and I covered a section of SAT and solved problems. I have assigned a section of the SAT to the student to work on so that I can check the next time I tutor."
