Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this first session with the student, I covered concepts of electrostatics, particularly CASTLE method. He struggled with recalling/applying concepts but once he got them, he was able to solve the problems in the worksheets.."
"The student has an exam coming up this Wednesday covering forces & Newton's second law, and energy. Today we focused on the forces portion of the exam (which will likely comprise the majority of points). Specifically, we discussed gravitational laws and strategies for solving 1D & 2D force balance problems."
"We went over the student's problem set on RC circuits, which she had completed half of prior to spring break. We covered some background information about resistors and capacitors before going into what they do together. She is going to send me questions/her next problem set when it becomes available."
"Today, we went over a new set of HW related to diffusion and some other mostly random quantities. We did get the entire set done within 45 minutes, which is awesome. On Tuesday, we looked over the entire set prior to that one, and that took no more than an hour. We'll be meeting tomorrow to begin midterm exam review, and I think we'll start to piece together an equation sheet and look more at the big picture."
"Acoustics: we went through the student's assignment that covered Doppler effect, harmonics and sound intensity in dB. I also explained addition/multiplication property of logarithms and how it is used in the dB formula."
"Followed up from yesterday's work on conservation of momentum and started working on rotation of rigid bodies. Began with presenting the mapping onto the linear kinematics and dynamics equations, translating between linear velocity (et. al) with angular velocity (et. al) and then looked at problems."
