Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I finished her spelling sentences for the week and did some fun writing using pictures we drew. She was particularly imaginative this week with her sentences!"
"Reviewed the topics of main idea and details, practiced picking out these topics from pictures and paragraphs, and practiced writing paragraphs using these topics."
"The student and I began our next unit of the writer's workshop: Authors as Mentors. First, we discussed what a mentor is and then read "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" by Laura Numeroff. We discussed what made the book silly then constructed our own silly story."
"The student's grandmother bought her two new National Geographic books that she was very excited about. She showed me that she is about half through each one. She continues to enjoy reading independently, and I encourage her and her mom to make sure she is reading about an hour per day. Today, we read about invasive species in a southern state, and she completed a literacy quadrant infographic. We will continue with similar activities next week and continue working on building her vocabulary and writing skills."
"We worked on practice questions from the assessment exam. These consisted of passages followed by comprehension questions. The student did well. He should finish the last two reading passages and the questions that follow them for homework."
"We covered all the concepts and topics that will be covered in the sessions. The students were very attentive and excited to learn. I am going to use a very hands-on approach when teaching them. I am very excited for the next session."
