Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today I went over words with the student, on reviewing food vocabulary and familiar phrasing. We also reviewed verb tenses and discussed his final. His homework is to write on something that he likes."
"I continued working with Student 1 on his assessment test review. We went over vocabulary words from our last session as well as vocabulary words from some of the chapters he covered at the beginning of the year. I helped Student 2 prepare for her Social Studies assessment test by going over document based essay questions."
"We did a reading comprehension exercise. We analyzed the vocabulary and grammar she used, as well as meaning. Great work!"
"We reviewed avoir/etre, masculine/feminine, basic sentence structure, possessives, some vocabulary, and numbers (use soixante-dix for 70!). The student seems positive and willing to learn and has a good ear for the slight nuances of French. We discussed making sticky notes as a way of increasing the student's vocabulary and taking studying seriously as a form of immersion. I encourage the student to get "501 French Verbs.""
"The student practiced conjugating verbs in past tense and future tense and did very well throughout the whole sessions. She has made amazing strides in French over this academic year, and has shown a huge boost in confidence with every class."
"We talked about the verb aimer, which means to like, and used that as a springboard to review previous material. I had Student 1 and Student 2 write a paragraph about what they are doing this upcoming weekend, and then I asked them questions about it in French. They did pretty well at understanding the questions I was asking. Keeping notes from one session to the next would help."
