Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over completing the square, using the quadratic equation, and looking at discriminant. He is doing well but makes algebra mistakes. I told him to practice his work by going over his homework again and doing the opposite method of what the directions tell him to use."
"Today we reviewed and practiced applications of the remainder theorem and the associated factor theorem. She was very proficient in how to utilize it, we just had to go over what the law means. She has a test tomorrow, and I think she understands it well enough to get a perfect grade."
"The student completed her large homework assignment, some 25 problems, involving calculations with percentages, and exponent manipulation. This is in preparation for an important quiz next week. Most concepts are straight-forward, especially the calculation and word problems. We ended the session with exponent factoring and fractions. She will review this section for the quiz."
"The student has a quiz over solving systems by graphing and substitution on Wednesday. He had a review assignment he was working on. I also made up some problems after he finished that to help reinforce some issues he was having solving. He did a nice job solving by graphing and solving a system of three equations. As far as content, I feel that he has a good grasp on how to find the solution to a system of equations."
"I helped the student's brother with a homework problem that involved finding the arithmetic mean of a sample size. For the remainder of our time, I worked with the student on solving systems of linear equations, using the substitution method."
"This is my first session with the student and it went well. I have taught her the approach on how to factor different kinds of algebraic expressions. She practiced this approach on several practice problems. I will be meeting her again on Wednesday for the next session."
