"The student has shown improvement in his organizational skills, but we will continue to work in this area. For this week, the student is to write out his assignments and have it next to his work area at home.
We also prepared for his upcoming Biology test on the circulatory system. He is very prepared and demonstrates excellent recall. A discussion of the study topic outside of the provided literature seems to peak his interest and improves his enthusiasm for the subject."

"The student and I practiced for her chemistry test this week on the colligative properties of solutions. The student does very well with identifying what equations to use for each problem and how to input the known variables in the equations with the given information. To continue studying before the exam, the student should focus on writing balanced chemical equations and using the stoichiometric ratios in the equations to calculate the amount of products produced from a given amount of reactants. More practice with questions that use percent mass and density to calculate the molarity of a solution would also be useful when studying.

"Had a good session today  went over several practice problems. She does still get caught up in some details, so we reviewed the fundamentals again and that helped. Looking forward to meeting with her again tomorrow."
"Today we reviewed the homework she was to do over the long weekend. We then completed review worksheets and spent time really going over how to do word problems. The student and I then discussed math strategies for the ISEE exam and how to incorporate that into her tutoring sessions."
"The student and I discussed his math classes in general and his Statistics class in particular. Then I went through chapter 5 with him to make sure he understood all key concepts. I helped him to compare and contrast different terms. We gave examples and counterexamples for every concept."
"During this session we began to work on the new material that the student was learning. The new material is about end behavior of graphs. I gave the student some hints about ways to remember what the end behavior will look like depending on the degree of the equation. I am going to bring some more tricks and ways to decide when a graph is increasing or decreasing during our next session. The student seems to be really understanding the new material so far."

She is going to be writing a long research paper but, for now, we prepared a four page preview to be shared with the class on Sunday as per the teachers instruction. We reviewed the three pages we had already written. We corrected spelling, grammar, and structural problems. And we wrote the fourth page, first discussing her evidence and how to tie it back to her thesis. I think the student is enjoying learning about the ways a thesis and evidence work together to build an argument."

"Student A: went through geometry homework on functions, domains, and ranges, and reviewed some old topics. It seemed like he was comfortable with the material and most of his errors were minor. Student B: reviewed geometric proofs for test tomorrow and went through a homework packet. The proofs were on angles and using angle related theorems. They were tricky, hopefully with more practice she will start to recognize better when to use specific theorems."
"The students working with functions of many variables now so we talked about various examples of function from R1,2,3 to R1,2,3,4,... We then talked about what it means to take a derivative of a real valued function using the chain rule. Then we looked at gradients and how we can use them to find directional derivatives."
"We discussed concept of factoring using the greatest common factor. We expanded this to the factoring of polynomials. He will work on the speed of problem solving so that he may finish his exams accurately and quickly."
