Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered direct object pronouns, indirect object pronouns, "y" and "en." We finished with reading selections from "Le Petit Prince.""
"The student is preparing for her oral exam. She was given two packets of expressions and idioms. We reviewed the first three pages. Some of the expressions differ slightly. We discussed the nuances and why certain expressions and words are used at certain times and under which conditions. Excellent session."
"Today we covered the three different ways to form a question in French. We practiced turning simple sentences into questions in each of the three different ways. Then we worked through a translation exercise, and corrected some mistakes particularly in the use of the preposition "dans." Using the dialogue we have been working on, I posed several questions in French from the questionnaire on page 23 to the student, and he answered my questions in French without referring to the text. This was challenging, but he was able to understand all of the questions, and then we worked on reformulating some of the responses. Finally, we moved on to Chapter 4 and read through the dialogue on page 24 for the first time. For next week, he will learn the chapter 4 vocabulary, work on the pronunciation of the chapter 4 dialogue especially focusing on liaison, do exercise 6, and make a new chart with the three ways to form questions in French."
