"The student and I went through some new problems assigned to her from school. We studied how to find area of polygons, and multiple shaded-regions that comprised of known shapes. I taught her to take some time to analyze the problem before solving it. I told her to redraw (parts of) the diagram in the question so that she can better visualize it."
"The student and I went over her complex fractions test. She knows all her concepts, and it shows. Then we spent time doing more radicals and she was fine with that as well. She just needs more practice working with them to get used to working with the radicals."
"The student and I went over another review sheet for her upcoming math test on surface area and volume. She has a very good handle on the material and just has to memorize the equations. We also reviewed her science flashcards for her upcoming test on binomial nomenclature/species classification. Again she understands the subject well and just needs to review, which I was able to help her with."
"The session focused on solving inequalities with variables on both sides and test preparation for tomorrow. The student received a 75% on the test last week but the test was not available for review. The student stated he will be able to improve his grade to 87.5%. The student was open to the material and picked it up quickly."
"We continued our lessons on quadratics. Today was a great session with time going by quickly as he covered the review sheet without too much guidance. It was a very comprehensive worksheet going over everything we've been doing for the past week and a half. He understands vertex form very well and standard form pretty well. One thing I was quite impressed with was when I taught him about completing the square to get from standard form to vertex form, he solved the next problem right away without any assistance. One thing that I think is working very well is making sure he comes up with the answer himself and when he does, knowing why that is the correct answer. He has a quiz tomorrow and I feel confident he will do well."
"Today the student worked on his math homework. He has shown some great improvement in math the last week. I hope he continues on this path. He also worked a little bit on his MLA paper. He wanted to get a head start on the project so I helped prep him to begin his paper over the weekend."
