Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was my first session with the student. She's pretty quick on the uptake, taking an average amount of time to grasp the material, but she has some knowledge gaps. However, she's a very good student and seemed eager to catch up, so we went at a sort of medium pace through some basic three-dimensional stuff (volume, surface area, etc.). When it got close to quitting time, I gave her some general tips on some other topics, and she's going to work on homework over the next week. When we meet next week, I hope to see a lot of correct answers!"
"We covered various aspects of circles - chords, radius, diameters, secants, and tangent lines. The student was able to complete the practice problems after we went through explanations of the concepts. We will continue to work on geometry questions in preparation for her future exams and quizzes."
"Today the student and I worked on geometry. We continued using different theorems in order to solve for angles, diameter, and arcs. She has an exam coming up this week, so we reviewed formulas and theorems, and after working on multiple problems using the same formulas she was able to easily apply them when needed. Some formulas look similar, so I gave her tips on when to use each one."
"I covered with the student applying trigonometric ratios to solve right triangles. I also reviewed with her a review packet in preparation for her external exam in May."
"We started working on circles (chapter 10). There were homework problems that she was unclear about, so we went over them together."
"We reviewed concepts for her Geometry test tomorrow. We used her chapter tests and textbook to work on problems she'd gotten wrong and to review definitions and make flash cards. We reviewed triangle proportions and ratios, Pythagorean theorem, similar and congruent triangles, geometric proofs, and conditional statements. She was able to work through a lot of the problems herself, but needed reassurance to build her confidence and give her clarity on how, when, and why to use the different systems she's been learning. We worked through a number of practice problems and she said she felt much more confident and prepared. She also made flashcards on the different conditional statements to help her memorize them."
