We started off the session going over some of the concepts that the student asked for help with. Specifically, this was with rationalizing the denominator. I gave her some practice problems, and then we continued on with some sections of chapter 10, which used the process of rationalizing the denominator, so she got additional practice. She mentioned that she had a grammar test coming up, and that she wanted help with adverbs. We found a great tool online that will be quick practice drills before the test. She did a few of the sentences, and then continued on with math. I kept the session to her doing most of the work with practice problems, to keep her brain doing something.

We went over some review packets from the student's algebra class last year. She would find things she did not remember and we would go over them together. We reviewed rules of exponents, simplifying radicals, operations of fractions, functions, domain/range/intervals of functions, and solving equations. The student is a quick learner and picked everything back up almost instantly.

Today we finished talking about the current study topic conic section by going over hyperbolas and also the equation of a circle. We then went on to finish reviewing for his final by going over sequence and series, as well as permutation combination and probability. I will be sending him notes and work within the next couple of days so he can prepare for his final.

The students and I both reviewed for their upcoming exams. While Student 1 and I reviewed topics in Spanish - subjunctive verbs, affirmative/negative words, and por/para. Student 2 and I reviewed topics in trigonometry. Each of them completed practice exercises correctly. I left them both with my notes. It was a pleasure working with both students this year!

Tutoring review by Nina in Carmel Arts & Design District, IN
The student had expressed a desire to become a better math student in the past, so today we focused entirely on a difficult math assignment that focused on exponents, variables, and how to simplify those equations. Most of his struggle came from a lack of familiarity with the material. I supplemented this by giving him six basic rules for simplifying variables and exponents for him to reference. The work was challenging and took a significant amount of time to get through, but by the end, he seemed to have a much better grasp on the concept and how to solve the problems.
