Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on questions the student had about his previous homework assignment (which was on general Python coding). We also looked at nested 'for' loops and accessing certain locations in lists. These topics were used in solving some of the problems on his current homework. He worked out things on his own, and after I slowed his thought process down, he was able to verbalize and visualize his coding steps. He solved a complicated homework problem right at the end of our session. He felt confident enough to continue with the rest of the homework set by himself."
"The student finished off his homework assignment due next Tuesday, which involved using pyplot and a gambling simulation. This used Python constructs that we had already covered, like lists and while loops. Lastly, we did some practice in the remaining amount of time. He worked on nested for loops and string concatenation."
"Today the student began working on his homework 7 assignment which focused on generator functions and their application in program design. He is a wonderfully quick study, able to handle algorithmic thinking and complex data maneuvers with ease. This allowed him to speed through the heavier aspects of the program and focus instead on the concepts and clues presented by his project. I left him with a few hints on how to proceed with the remaining aspects of his assignment and a call to complete questions 3 and 4 before our next session on Wednesday."
"Today, the student and I worked on reply and Python syntax as well as vulnerability execution. We also worked on attack vectors and execution of theoretical attack. She was eager to learn. I think she understood concepts after I explained them; I did ask for follow up for this, as I want to be sure she is sufficiently understanding the subject."
"We covered Algorithm complexity and did some Python code analysis. Using belt colors from martial arts for promotions. The student needs help with the description for the concepts for algorithm complexity. Her attitude is excellent, her attitude for the material is excellent. I did not include any study strategies, but will get back with her with some additional explanations for complexity notation. We will measure her progress with her promotions in her class."
"In this session, we reviewed the Python programming environment and the relationship between the Python shell and user-created modules. We also reviewed basic programming concepts such as variable declaration, conditional statements, and while loops. The student was not struggling with anything in particular, but just needed to be familiarized with the format and syntax of Python. The student seems really interested in learning more and I look forward to going deeper into what can be done with Python in future sessions."
