Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed our flashcards we'd made for Spanish colors, and then we began making flashcards for animal names. We included pictures, pronunciations, and English translations. She says she will practice these new flashcards for the next time we meet."
"During this session, we did a review of what we have been going over. I do not want to bombard the student with too much information every session. We specifically went over vocabulary that dealt with restaurants. He is doing very well and impresses me with how quick he catches on. We are working on improving his grammar as we go along, but he is doing very well."
"The student and I began with her reading me parts of her Spanish journal and checking for accuracy in her grammar and vocabulary. We also spent time talking about her trip and the places that she visited there . We then looked at exercises from our reading text and grammar exercises that practiced reflexive verbs."
"We covered important expressions in Spanish grammar and conversation, such as hay, conversational uses of tener, the personal a, and words and phrases for making introductions. The student had completed all the recommended study work, and we reviewed that as well. We will continue using the syllabus I prepared next week after the holiday."
"We reviewed by conversing in Spanish about our last few weeks using past preterite and imperfect tenses, vocabulary, etc. Based on where the student struggled, we looked up charts and chapters in the textbooks to clarify. Homework was to take the formula for commands that she already uses with her dogs and try new verbs by using the formula with people. I sent her a few charts of conjugation and had her put her subtitles in Spanish while listening to the podcast/show in Spanish, so even if she didn't hear it, she can see the words as they speak."
"We went over the student's English vocabulary test in the first hour. We clarified parts of speech so that she understands the concept much better now. She worked on her English vocab homework for tomorrow. Then we studied for an hour for her Spanish test tomorrow."
