Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on pedigrees in biology then worked through the geometry final exam review packet. We got through page 10 for the geometry review."
"The student and I reviewed mitosis/meiosis, the cell cycle, transcription/translation, and genetics during this visit. she did pretty well on a ~30 question quiz I put together for her. She has made a lot of progress with transcription/translation, and I think one more session together will cement mitosis/meiosis for her. The student has her semester final next week, so next Sunday's session will focus on reviewing the entire semester's material."
"Today the student and I looked over his 3D cell project that he is planning to turn in on Thursday. During that time, we reviewed the functions of the organelles, including the mitochondria, chloroplast, central vacuole, nucleus, nucleolus, Golgi apparatus, endoplasmic reticulum, ribosome and cytoplasm. Additionally, we reviewed the processes of photosynthesis and cellular respiration."
"The student and I worked on transcription, translation, the different types of RNA, different types of macromolecules, enzymes, and setting up an experiment. I think she has a good understanding of the material and will be prepared for her final."
"The student and I reviewed all the chapters she's covered so far. She is more than prepared! The student is very well organized and ready for her test."
"The student said her exam yesterday went very well and she was feeling very confident about the material. This session we answered the essay questions her teacher gave her in order to prepare for her exam. Today we did cellular respiration and DNA translation. She seemed very happy about the progress she is making."
"We reviewed concepts on ecology, including food chains, biochemical cycles, keystone species, etc. We discussed these concepts in the context of the unit objectives."
"In preparation for the student's final exam, we reviewed all of her class material. She has roughly 13 chapters and topics, with one essay question for each. We reviewed each question, and she wrote the best, most concise, answer for each question. In addition, I looked through her final lab report and checked it over for her."
"Today we covered material in preparation for his final. This included oncogenes, proto-oncogenes, and tumor suppressor genes."
"Today, the student and I reviewed DNA, RNA, protein, prokaryotic cells and eukaryotic cells. We also discussed evolution, Darwin, photosynthesis, cell respiration, and microevolution."
"Today, we had a final exam review. We discussed monomers and polymers, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, organelles, organization of the cell and DNA."
"The student and I went over sex-linked genes from her genetics problem set and also covered linked genes/recombination frequencies."
